Summary
Join a dynamic Maintenance culture, where your skills will be developed and enhanced to become the Technician you want to be. You will find autonomy from day one, thinking for yourself in this fast-paced and reactive environment, including breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance, dynamic checks and project work. With varied working areas, including Body Shop, Trim & Chassis, Powertrain and Press & Plastics, you have the chance to apply your expertise across a range of environments. Regardless of your mechanical or electrical bias, you will find the support, training and people to help you develop your skills. With a dedicated Training Centre, we offer our Maintenance teams a full programme of learning and development, including mechanical & electrical training, PLC training (Siemens, OMRON and Mitsubishi), major breakdown analysis, hydraulic and pneumatic courses, Fanuc robot training and external training and equipment familiarity direct from OEMs. If you’re a proactive problem solver, up to a challenge in a lively and energetic culture where your work will make a real difference, then a Nissan Maintenance career could be for you.
You should apply if you have:
* A time-served Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Technician, preferably with experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment such as Automotive, FMCG, Pharmaceuticals or Primary Metal Production.
* A recognised apprenticeship in an electrical or mechanical discipline, an ONC, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance or Engineering or equivalent qualification.
* Maintenance and fault-finding experience across equipment such as PLCs, relay logic control, vision systems, fixed and variable speed drives, process control, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical handling systems/conveyors, mechanical transmissions or robotics.
* A willingness to learn and a passion for problem solving and continuous improvement.
* Comfort with thinking for yourself and setting your own agenda, with quick decision-making skills in a busy, global production environment.
* High motivation, excellent technical skill level, and a proactive approach to resolving issues and implementing long-term countermeasures.
* The right to work in the UK and geographical mobility for training or project work.
* The ability to commit to a shift-based role.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
* Be the first port of call for breakdown response within your zone, making quick decisions to keep your area running.
* Carry out dynamic checks and planned preventative maintenance tasks, applying logical thinking to reduce risk and install effective countermeasures.
* Collaborate in project work and continuous improvement activities, including testing and buy-off procedures with Engineering and Production.
* Learn the suite of equipment within the Nissan Sunderland plant, including scissor lifts, cranes, forklifts and cherry pickers.
* Be open to opportunities for training and career progression at Nissan, with ongoing support from our dedicated Learning, Engagement and HR teams.
