Job Title: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical or Electrical Bias Location: Stafford, UK Salary: £38,000 per annum Hours: Alternating AM and PM shifts (Monday - Thursday: 6:00 - 14:00 or 14:00 - 22:00; Friday: 6:00 - 12:00 or 12:00 - 18:00) Reports To: Engineering Manager or Supervisor ________________________________________ Role Purpose The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer is responsible for conducting both planned and reactive maintenance on facilities, plant, and production equipment with a specialization in either mechanical or electrical disciplines. The role requires working closely within a small team to ensure reliable and efficient operations across all systems and equipment. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Routine Maintenance & Repairs Carry out scheduled maintenance for all buildings, plant, and production equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical and/or electrical faults according to expertise. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) and permit-to-work systems. Team Collaboration & Shift Support Operate as part of a two-person team per shift to ensure consistent service. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide out-of-hours support as required. Safety & Compliance Uphold safety standards by adhering to Method Statements and Risk Assessments for each task. Proactively identify and address potential hazards, promoting a safe work environment. Subcontractor Supervision & Client Relations Oversee the work of subcontractors, ensuring they follow site protocols and standards. Build and maintain good relationships with staff and client representatives, providing regular job updates. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logbooks, shift handovers, and reports. Update tracking systems with task completion and identified issues to maintain clear operational records. Flexibility & Additional Support Offer flexibility in working overtime when necessary to meet maintenance needs. Assist Residential and Commercial teams with basic maintenance support, including minor carpentry, water hygiene, and painting. ________________________________________ Person Specification / Requirements Qualifications & Skills Electrical or Mechanical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent). Multi-skilled experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance disciplines. Formal Health & Safety training is beneficial (e.g., IPAF, Test and Inspect, Legionella Awareness). Experience Strong background in diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical or mechanical systems. Demonstrated experience in planned and preventative maintenance on various equipment. Ability to meet health and safety standards in maintenance operations. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving skills with a calm approach under pressure. Effective organizational and multitasking abilities. Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and capable of working both independently and in a team. Technical Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
