This is a 18 months fixed term, full-time (10PAs) post for international doctors who are aspiring to explore career progression in UK.
The role is created with emphasis on providing clinical placement, pastoral support and training opportunities for international doctors. The post will provide educational and mentoring support to help doctors, gain membership of Royal College, essential competencies like S12 and Approved clinician status to help career progression in UK.
You will have flexibility of rotating within other services to expand your experience and gain competencies within other sub-specialities.

Main duties of the job
You will be part of the multi disciplinary team consisting of Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychiatric nurse, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational therapist, Social worker and Support time recovery worker.
You will be assessing new referrals/admissions to the team, providing support to Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) decision making, prescribing medications and treatments as per Trust and national guidance and supporting teaching and training activities in the team.
The clinical work will be job specific when rotating within other services I,e Crisis resolution home treatment team, community mental health team, Child and Adolescent mental health services.
You will participate in Continuing Professional Development, peer supervision, mandatory training and professional competencies including exams to gain membership of Royal College and specialist register in GMC.

What we ask from you
Working in a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with consultant Psychiatrist you will
Provide specialist assessment and care planning in conjunction with service users and carers- via individual assessments and follow up appointments, MDT meetings and sometimes the Care Programme Approach (CPA) review.
Evaluate treatment plans and undertake discharge planning
Provide evidence based and recovery focused care
1. Provide cross-cover (emergency and prospective) for other SAS colleagues by mutual agreement
2. To communicate with all key partners in an appropriate and timely way including service users, carers and General Practitioners.
3. Work within the requirements of service contracts including compliance with nationally agreed quality standards
4. Fully utilise Trust IT systems as appropriate to enable fulfilment of clinical duties; including launch of the electronic prescribing system
Qualifications and training
MBBS, Postgraduate degree in Psychiatric Medicine MD
Experience
Minimum of 3 years experience which should be part of structured training programme leading to postgraduate degree.
Knowledge
Good communication skills, knowledge of Psychiatry including theoretical knowledge, history taking, psychiatric assessment and management of service users.
