Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer Southwark, Central London £60,000-£75,000 About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join a growing team in Central London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic professional to contribute to the design and implementation of innovative mechanical systems in a wide range of building projects. As the ideal candidate, you will have a solid background in mechanical engineering, specifically within the building services sector, and will be familiar with the relevant software and Building Regs for design. Key Responsibilities: Design mechanical systems for commercial, residential, and mixed-use buildings. Develop heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection systems. Work with architects, electrical engineers, and other professionals to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into building designs. Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Carry out energy modelling and sustainability assessments for low-carbon solutions. Review and analyse contractors’ designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and client requirements. Ensure projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers to provide technical advice and support. Perform site surveys and inspections to ensure system designs are implemented correctly. Key Skills & Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical building services design. Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Experience with building energy performance modelling and compliance with building regulations (e.g., Part L, BREEAM). Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software, including: AutoCAD (2D and 3D) Revit MEP Hevacomp or IESVE (Integrated Environmental Solutions Virtual Environment) Cymap REVIT MEP for integrated 3D design models Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) Knowledge of sustainability and energy-efficient solutions in building design. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and within a team. Desirable: Chartered or working towards Chartership with CIBSE or IMechE. Familiarity with the latest UK building regulations and standards. Why This Job For You?
