Full-Time Age Group Swim Coach – Competitive
The Newmarket Stingrays Club is currently accepting applications for a dynamic and experienced Coach who is innovative and swimmer development focused. The Coach will run our competitive Age Group 1 & 2 program for children 13-14 years of age.
The Newmarket Stingrays Swim Club is a not for profit organization with approximately members, has been developing swimming excellence in York Region since the mid ’s. The Stingrays’ Club philosophy builds swimming excellence both in the pool and in the community. The Club strives to develop exceptional athletes who achieve their goals by hard work and determination. The club operates mainly out of four aquatic facilities in and around Newmarket, Ontario.
The Age Group coach will:
1. Have strong technical knowledge of modern competitive strokes techniques, starts, and turns
2. Design and execute an appropriate training program, including dryland, under the direction of the Head Coach that addresses the demands of swimming, potential weaknesses, and helps prevent injury
3. Demonstrate effective coaching skills in order to evaluate, correct, and make recommendations for swimmer progression Have a proven track record of developing competitive swimmers to achieve Provincial, Eastern/Western and National standards qualifications
4. Able to establish mutual trust and respect with the age group swimmers to facilitate on-going, and consistent feedback with the individual athlete in order to communicate both their strengths, and areas they need to develop and improve in
5. Able to accept and consider appropriate feedback from the Head Coach, Age Group swimmers, as well as critically evaluate swim meet performance for developing new training methods and performance strategies
6. Attend Coach’s meetingsAttend Club functions
7. Cover training sessions for other coaches as required Upon request, provide constructive and honest feedback to parents about the progress of their swimmers in a reasonable and timely manner
8. Strive to meet the goals of the Swim Club Establish a reliable and respected on-deck presence
9. Be an excellent communicator, and have a demonstrated ability to deal with conflict
10. Ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all swimmers
11. Be committed and available for full swim season, September through June, comfortable with scheduling personal vacation time during the Club’s downtime in July and August
12. The position is considered full-time and will include a minimum of 15 hours on deck coaching and 2 hours of dryland training per week
13. The role is considered to be full-time in nature with a competitive salary, extended health plan, and reimbursement for professional development in coaching for the successful applicant
Qualifications:
14. Prior competitive swim coaching experience
15. NCCP Level 2 coaching certification
16. National Lifesaving Society Certification
17. Standard First Aid and CPR Level ‘C’
18. Commitment to continued professional coaching development and achievement of additional NCCP levels
19. Proficiency in Hy-Tek, Meet Manager, and TeamUnify
20. Satisfactory recent Vulnerable Sector Screen
21. Provide three professional references directly related to coaching experience
22. Ability to travel to all aquatic facilities the Club operates from, and to swim meets throughout Ontario
23. Current member in good standing with CSCA, Swim Ontario or equivalent governing body
