The Role
The Credit Risk Analyst will be focused on counterparty credit risk analysis within capital markets. Counterparties include banks, asset managers, hedge funds, broker-dealers, and other financial institutions. The role relates directly to the firm's Open Trading platform, whereby MarketAxess acts as counterparty to both the buyer and seller of bonds in a matched principal capacity, thereby taking on both financial and reputational risk. You will be part of a broader Global Team and will support and work directly with the Senior Credit Risk Associate in EMEA, and Head of Credit & Market Risk for the EMEA & APAC regions.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Provide coverage of the Open Trading Desk by timely response to limit breach alerts and queries; ad-hoc reporting; and general support of more senior members of the team - notably the Senior Credit Risk Associate in London, and Head of Credit & Market Risk, for the EMEA & APAC regions.
* The Credit Risk Analyst also has responsibility for the credit risk assessment of existing and potential counterparties transacting on the Company's bespoke Open Trading platform. You will assign and manage credit limits while maintaining sound judgment and controls in order to mitigate counterparty credit settlement risk, market risk and reputational Risk. Your remit will focus predominantly on a subset of EMEA-based counterparties but will also include entities domiciled in the Americas and APAC regions.
* Maintain close engagement with the OT Desk, including timely response to limit breaches and processing of temporary credit limit increases.
* Regularly monitor and report on credit exposures and KRIs; taking minutes at various meetings, including Credit Committees.
* Ensure that Credit systems are up to date with correct and relevant information.
* Support the Senior Credit Risk Associate in EMEA and the Head of Credit & Market Risk for the EMEA & APAC regions in the overall management of the Credit & Market risk function.
* Act as a Sales Liaison for collating all relevant information needed for the onboarding of new EMEA OT accounts.
* Write Credit Memos for the Credit Committee to assess potential new counterparties: This involves analysing financial results and interpreting relevant metrics, while also considering qualitative aspects to assess overall creditworthiness.
* Perform ongoing credit analyses of existing counterparties to renew credit lines: considering the individual business model, financial profile and performance. Counterparties include banks, asset managers, hedge funds, broker-dealers, and other financial institutions.
* Work with a variety of teams within the business, including Sales; Settlements; Legal & Compliance and Customer Services in order to ensure the smooth running of the Credit Process.
What We're Looking for
* Bachelor's degree required (2.1 or above), finance or economics concentration preferred.
* 1+ years of experience in credit risk analysis for financial institutions (e.g. asset managers, broker dealers, banks, hedge funds).
* Experience with MS Office Suite, notably Excel and Word.
* Results-driven and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to tackle business problems with creative solutions.
* Analytical, quantitative, verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to see situations holistically, while also being able to distil information into key components.
* Strong relationship builder who values giving and receiving feedback and is agile and eager to learn.
* Self-Starter: Must be proactive and able to work well independently.
* Team player: Must be comfortable working with and supporting the greater global team, as well as being able to relate to a variety of stakeholders at various levels of seniority throughout the firm.
