NES Fircroft is recruiting a Mechanical Project Engineer on behalf of ConocoPhillips based at their terminal in Teesside. This is a long-term (3 year) contract opportunity. 37.5hrs per week. Excellent rates and benefits.
The ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane.

Reporting to the Strategic Projects Team Leader, and working within a small team of engineering professionals, you will be responsible for providing project engineering expertise for project management, design, engineering and construction activities associated with multi-disciplinary projects.
Primary Role Objectives
1. Projects Management
2. Responsible for the development and execution of a portfolio of multi-discipline projects (predominantly associated with hydrocarbon Storage tanks, spheres and piping overhauls & replacements)
3. Responsible for the progression of projects from scope definition through to front-end engineering, HAZOP, Detailed Design, Construction & Commissioning
4. Be a visible safety champion within the organisation driving standards and supporting incidents and investigations where necessary
5. Provide overall Project Management and liaise with stakeholders across the business
6. Project managing and controlling any modifications/changes through the management of change process, in compliance with site standards and current legislation
7. Responsible for overall project cost control, schedule attainment, cost forecasting and ensuring that the work scope is effectively and efficiently delivered
8. Ensure CDM roles are appointed where required and monitor CDM regulations compliance
9. Support the development of engineering specifications, company standards and procedures to ensure compliance with Company and statutory requirements
10. Prepare detailed Scopes-of-Work to form the technical basis for commercial tenders
11. Perform technical evaluation of tenders and selection of contractors
12. Develop vendor/equipment specifications in conjunction with functional engineers and subject matter specialists
13. Undertake equipment evaluation, and perform factory and/or site acceptance testing of equipment
14. Carry out audits and readiness reviews to ensure projects are in compliance with the project delivery process and are aligned with key delivery milestones
15. Evaluate, co-ordinate and manage responses to all technical queries (T.Q’s) and design changes from vendors
16. Undertake, or oversee the work of others, to ensure equipment is commissioned safely and in accordance with appropriate standards
17. Provide handover documentation and undertake training as required to ensure new equipment is fully integrated into site operations
18. Ability to represent the Company to site visitors, contractors, and suppliers
19. Responsible to ensure the work scope is not expanded or changed unless the appropriate process is followed and approved
Skills, Experience & Competencies
* Degree educated in relevant Engineering Discipline (preferably chartered status)
* Strong experience in a project engineer or project management roles
* Sound knowledge of engineering principles and proven ability to apply them to real-world problems
* Experience in Storage tank overhauls/repairs
* Experience in Storage tank cleaning methods
* Fabrication knowledge &/or background
* Familiarity with CDM Regulations
* Extensive Operation & Maintenance experience in the oil & gas industry or other regulated industry
* Working knowledge of COMAH
* Familiarity of working in a continuous process plant
* Knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX legislation
* Demonstrate effective interpersonal, leadership skills and supervisory competence
* Work on Plant in restricted areas when required
* Working at height
* Entry to confined spaces
* Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate
* Good reporting, communication and workload management
