Objectives, Roles and Responsibilities Establish and maintain robust (HSE) related processes for the business. Drive cultural change in the organisation by proactively improving the HSE regime through people. Manage and maintain compliance to build structure to ISO1400 1 and other HSE related standards Maintain up to date and relevant HSE knowledge. Lead and support the creation and development of HSE process documentation Lead, organise and manage the internal HSE audit and development of internal risk assessment regime Develop and maintain strong SOP management to ensure safety compliance within Synergy teams Maintain training compliance for synergy staff, liaising with department heads Ident i fy, lead and manage H&S improvement actions from risk assessments, good catch’s, new processes Lead the delivery of the HSE Plan through managers in t h e business to establish good HSE practices, improving on the current H&S culture. Manage and maintain an effective COSSH system. Manage the provision of first aid skills, occupational health screening, risk assessments and cont rol of PPE. Be the first point of contact for all HSE related communications. Identify, implement, and provide all HSE related training requirements for all staff. Manage the 'Accident and near-miss reporting process: RIDDOR reporting; accident investigations and corrective actions. Organise, chair, minute the Quarterly HSE steering meeting and monthly safety committee Generate HSE KPl's and report on the performance of the business and departments within the business. Manage and control the site legislat ive requirements for any emissions, effluent etc. Work to achieve year on year cost reductions and/ or value additions in environmental disposal, utility costs and consumption of utilities. Collaborate and interact with Health and Safety Managers from other sites. Work flexibly and collaboratively with the Management Team and Staff to be a role model for demonst rating Company Values and standards of behaviour and professionalism. Lead & Contr ol Emergency Response Planning. Lead on Energy and Environmental programmes and awareness programmes on site. Personal injury and civil claims management. Working with facilities management and inhouse maintenance team; and working with other internal and external stakeholders as the need arises. To train and present safety needs across all levels of the site Contractor Management Pest Cont rol Services. Fire Safety Cont ract and PPMs. Asbestos Surveys and Water Risk Assessments. HAZOP Risk Assessments. Any others required for compliance Environmental Management ESOS - submission of data to the Environment Agency Packaging Compliance - annual submission of packaging data to waste management company Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience (Required to perform the job ) Essential St rong up to date knowledge of HSE legislation in the UK. Good working knowledge of COSSH IT competent wit h MS Office. NEBOSH Gen eral Certifi c ate minimum or equivalent (but working towa rds NEBOSH Diploma). Ideally NEBOSH diploma qualified. Exper ien ce of working in a Health & Safety M anagement role in manufacturing organisations. Proven track record of taking the lead role in establishing t h e HSE agenda within an organisation To be able to work in cross functional teams. Desirable: Experience of work ing in a Health & Safety Management role in food or ingredients manufacturing organisat ions. Experi ence of lean and problem -solving tools Knowledge/ Qualifications in Transporting Hazardous goods (IMDG, ADR, IATA etc. ) Knowledge of ATEX requirements .
