As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of data centre projects.
You will be responsible for carrying out engineering concept design through to detailed design, ensuring technical compliance, quality, and consistency across all projects.
This position requires strong leadership skills, as you will be managing and motivating a team of engineers, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and fostering a cohesive and high-performing team environment.
Responsibilities
* Carry out engineering concept design through to detailed design for data centre projects.
* Ensure all design projects and reports within the group are technically compliant, consistent in quality, and adhere to established standards.
* Conduct regular in-house design reviews and checks to maintain quality control.
* Motivate and manage staff within the group to build coherent, high-performing teams.
* Set objectives, monitor performance, coach, and develop staff to optimise their potential.
* Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
* Ensure compliance with Company Health and Safety policies and CDM regulations.
* Adhere to Quality Management System ISO 9001 and 14001 standards.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Proven experience in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 3 years' experience in Mechanical Design for Data Centre/Mission Critical projects.
* Proven experience in designing and managing projects, with a focus on design coordination with other stakeholders and disciplines.
* Extensive knowledge of critical mechanical systems, HVAC engineering, and multiple levels of resilience, including cooling, ventilation, humidification, fuel oil, and flue systems.
* Experience with large-scale chilled water and adiabatic cooling systems.
* Proficiency in systems design to various resilience levels.
* Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and manufacturer selection software.
* Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
