Head of Operations

Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to circa £80,000 package (depending on experience)
This is a permanent opportunity working for a well-established and highly successful SME manufacturing organization that has built an excellent reputation in their market based on innovation and high standards. To support continued growth, they are now looking to bring in a Head of Operations to take responsibility for the operational aspects of the business and drive strategy over manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, and procurement.
Responsibilities:
1. Overseeing all manufacturing operations to ensure efficient, high-quality production to schedule and deliver agreed results to customers within the agreed timescale.
2. Leading a team of direct and indirect reports across Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehousing, and Procurement.
3. Implementing and managing lean processes to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
4. Developing and managing production schedules, inventory control, materials planning, labor, and contingency plans.
5. Monitoring key performance metrics and implementing data-driven strategies to optimize processes.
6. Collaborating with the leadership team to forecast demand, manage budgets, and drive profitability.
7. Working with the MRP system to streamline operations between different site locations.
8. Identifying and addressing bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
9. Reviewing and implementing solid SOPs and ensuring that all processes are scalable and align with the company's growth and profitability objectives.
10. Leading and developing the operations team, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Significant experience within an Operations Management role or a similar role, such as Head of Operations or Operations Director, within an engineering and/or manufacturing business.
2. Project management experience is essential.
3. Experience in bespoke manufacturing/bespoke engineering.
4. Strong leadership qualities with experience managing multi-disciplined teams.
5. Experience with modern MRP systems.
6. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
7. Strong financial awareness and experience with resource planning and budgeting.
