We have a new opportunity for an efficient and enthusiastic person to join the Burns and Plastics Occupational Therapy team as a Clinical Support Worker. The role will be both clinical and administrative in nature, but you will be working within a clinical setting where you will be required to interact with patients on a daily basis. You will be a key player in the day-to-day running of our service and the support you offer to our clinicians and patients.
The Burns and Plastics Service is a regional leader for adult and children’s burns services in the East Midlands. We are a small, friendly team who work across both paediatrics and adult services and are privileged to work with patients throughout their treatment journey from inpatient to outpatient, with a focus on scar management and rehabilitation.
This role will be based within the Splint Room at City Hospital Campus as this is our office space and team space, and we would need the successful candidate to work their hours ideally over 4 days of the week.
In this role, you will need to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and skills related to a wide variety of clinical administrative and clerical tasks. Your main areas of work will include:
1. Managing and coordinating diaries
2. Booking appointments
3. Producing GP prescription letters
4. Answering the phone and fielding clinical enquiries appropriately
5. Supporting the team and the service
6. Screening photo submissions of scarring via our photographic communication system, ISLA care
7. Acting as a second person within some patient treatment sessions
Your daily tasks will be very varied as we cover a wide range of outpatient clinics across both campuses, in addition to providing ward cover for all burns and plastics patients at NUH residing for inpatient care. Responsibilities will include competent use of a number of hospital systems so you can lead on daily clinic preparation, manage bookings, and maintain clinical equipment and stock management. Due to the nature of the services and potential vulnerabilities of the patient group, excellent communication skills are essential as you will liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team and a potentially vulnerable group of patients to help coordinate care.
With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education, and innovation.
Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world-class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!
We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are striving to be better represented at NUH.
