What will you be doing as Housekeeping Manager? Our Housekeeping Managers are responsible for the housekeeping operation within the hostel and supporting the management of an operational budget and delivery of KPI’s. They have management responsibility for their team. Your day-to-day duties may include: leading the team to provide excellent and consistent levels of cleanliness to agreed YHA standards Monitor and control expenditure within the housekeeping function cleaning in all areas of the hostel from bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and public areas managing linen stocks into and out from the hostel ordering cleaning materials required using YHA suppliers rota planning to ensure correct levels of staffing in housekeeping for the levels of customer business supporting with a wide range of customer facing duties across the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors, giving them a great experience of YHA. Our housekeeping managers deputise for the Hostel/Deputy Manager, managing the hostel’s daily operation in their absence. What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Housekeeping Manager? Our housekeeping manager role requires flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks. It’s an advantage but not essential that our housekeeping managers have worked in a face-to-face role with customers previously. Proven experience of working with the hospitality industry would be advantageous and significant experience of housekeeping best practice, including the management and delivery of a quality service is essential. Qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 within Customer Services, Hospitality, Tourism (desirable). Experience working knowledge of health and safety compliance requirements, e.g., COSHH along with excellent numeracy skills, computer literacy (mainly excel) and experience of managing a team is essential. Duties vary so good communication skills, excellent timekeeping and basic IT skills are advantages. Knowledge and understanding of YHA’s core purpose and experience of working in a team are beneficial. We value lived experience just as much as previous skills and knowledge.
