We are looking for an experienced HR Adviser to join a fantastic organisation, based on the Biomedical Campus, Cambridge.
As an HR Adviser, you will provide operational support to ensure excellent, responsive business partnering, resourcing and HR administrative functions. You will be responsible for supporting the development of workforce plans, to ensure they align with the changing operational needs and aims of the organisation. Other services the HR Adviser will deliver include EDI, staffing and reward. You will work with Business and Operations Managers and Heads of Departments to develop and deliver innovative, best practice HR solutions to meet departmental and organisational objectives.
The successful candidate will need to evidence professional HR experience in either a generalist or specialist environment. You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence others. You will have line management responsibility, so the ability to coach and support colleagues is also key.
Please Note: This is a Fixed Term Contract to start as soon as possible, covering maternity leave. You will be working full-time, 37 hours per week across Monday-Friday and hybrid working is available (minimum 2 days in the office per week).
* Monitor and review people management data for client areas to identify risks, issues and trends to seek and propose opportunities for continuous improvement. Contribute to analysis and definition of root problems and assist with the identification and recommendation of solutions to meet service requirements.
* Contribute to the development of staff experience that delivers a high-quality inclusive culture under the strap line of “doing great work, in a great place to work”. Manage and deliver the HR/Recruitment and Management Essentials Training Programme to engage and up-skill workforce on all aspects of the people agenda.
* Provide advice and guidance in response to HR best practice, procedure or policy within a legal or organisational policy framework on more routine cases or queries. Support the team with their client areas on some aspects of case work, e.g. note taking, first line HR support to investigations and other less complex cases, referring more complex queries to the Senior HR Business Partner or HR Business Partner.
* Support on smaller self-contained projects or contribute to components of larger projects. Work to predetermined project parameters and under readily available guidance and direction from the Senior HR Business Partner or HR Business Partner.
* Support and implement relevant medical staffing projects changing terms and conditions e.g. contract changes when agreed in line with national agreements and local agreements. Responsible for pay and contractual issues within their client area.
* Deliver equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives that deliver high quality and non-discriminatory HR policies and practices within client area. To support work which may be undertaken on major EDI initiatives within the organisation.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
* HR Professional with experience in either a generalist or specialist environment, including operational exposure to application of employment law, case management and organisational change management.
* Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
* Experience of dealing with HR queries and supporting casework.
* Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to successfully present information verbally through use of formal presentation tools.
* Ability to advise and influence others.
* Experience of undertaking project work including conducting basic research and collating information.
* Good line management skills, acting positively, flexibly and collaboratively, bringing energy and focus to the work.
* Ability to coach and support colleagues on routine issues using strong communication and influencing skills.
* Ability to analyse problems, identify root causes and develop a range of solutions.
* Ability to focus on customers, being innovative and creative, open to ideas and challenges and committed to individual learning and development.
* Evidence of having planned work over short to medium term to include contributing to project deliverables.
* Ability to take responsibility for planning of own work, consistently achieving and delivering to time and quality despite tight timescales and conflicting priorities.
