We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and well-motivated professional with emergency preparedness or health protection experience. You will be a Senior Practitioner with a focus on Emergency Preparedness in a new Health Protection Strategic Team which sits within the wider Public Health Team and work closely with the Health Board's Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response Manager and wider NHS Wales EPRR colleagues. You will be a key member of the CTM Health Protection services that work across the Health Board and Local Authorities. You will be joining our growing Public Health Team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg, working across the three counties of Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The new Health Protection Service will work in partnership with other agencies including the Local Authorities and Public Health Wales to respond to emerging and existing health protection threats as required. Areas of work will include:
1. Pandemic Planning
2. Support to emergency planning including CBRN incidents
3. Responding to infectious disease outbreaks
4. National elimination programmes for blood borne virus and tuberculosis
5. Screening of populations most at risk from specific diseases
6. Immunisations and vaccinations support
7. Antimicrobial resistance
8. Environmental health threats
9. Delivery of training in health protection to staff and volunteers
The successful candidate will support the implementation and delivery of health protection programmes and responses with a focus on emergency preparedness and prevention. Qualifications
* Master's Degree or equivalent in Public Health / Health Promotion / Health Protection / Allied discipline or equivalent professional qualification / experience to equivalency.
* Diploma in Health Emergency Planning or Business Continuity.
Experience
* Considerable experience in public health / health protection / health emergency preparedness, resilience and response (EPRR) related topics. Including business continuity, contingency planning and incident management.
* Experience of working with communities.
* Experience of working across a number of organisations/sectors and/or with a number of programmes, including development, managing and evaluation of significant elements of work.
* Qualitative research methods.
Skills
* Excellent communication and analytical skills.
* Experience of managing risks and reporting.
* Ability to work successfully with diverse professional partners, and manage potentially conflicting perspectives.
* Working across professions and organisations in relation to Emergency Planning.
