We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Nurse to join our dynamic Acute Medical Unit (AMU) team. As a Band 6 Nurse in the AMU, you will oversee the care of patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide timely, effective care. You will be responsible for coordinatingpatient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring high-quality care is maintained throughout the patient’s journey. This includes leading on patient flow management and supervising junior staff while fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and compassionate care.
Your leadership skills will be put into practice as you support and guide your team, taking charge during board rounds with consultants and ensuring effective communication between the AMU, A&E, and the wider hospital. As a Band 6 on AMU, you will play a key role in coordinating patient flow and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients with complex, high-acuity needs. You will be responsible for identifying patients requiring multidisciplinary team (MDT) reviews and those needing transfer to other departments. You will work closely with A&E and the Operational Centre, promptly escalating any concerns to ensure smooth transitions in patient care.
Effective communication is essential, and you will regularly liaise with the clinical lead and junior doctors to promote efficient patient flow. Additionally, you will lead the board rounds with consultants twice a day, taking an active role in patient management.
