Job Summary: The Hydropower Engineer will act as a working supervisor responsible for the operation, maintenance and lifecycle projects of a 25MW hydro scheme. This role is crucial for the long-term upkeep of the site and involves managing a team of hydro technicians. The successful candidate will be SMSTS trained and have a strong understanding of HSE regulations. From time to time the role will include work on other jobs but the primary role will be focussed on the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise and manage the daily activities of the onsite team
Play a key role in the planning and management of the scheduled and unscheduled outages within the hydro project's annual maintenance schedule.
Manage maintenance and lifecycle projects to ensure the long-term upkeep of the hydro scheme.
Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with HSE regulations and company policies.
Utilize CMMS and SCADA systems for monitoring and administration of work.
Liaise with the offsite control centre for monitoring and operational purposes.
Coordinate, and manage specialist subcontractors for various maintenance and lifecycle tasks.
Manage and participate in an on-call rota so as to be able to fulfil 24/7 response protocols.
Report to the Site Manager and provide regular updates on project status and site conditions.
Provide key support to the Site Manager and Asset Manager.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Achieve a target of zero HSE incidents.
Meet the annual energy plan by reducing downtime and maintaining high availability and reliability.
Ensure the work associated with the annual CAPEX plan is completed
Ensure the timings of planned outages are met.
Qualifications:
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and project management.
HND, degree or equivalent beneficial.
Strong knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations.
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong communication skills for effective liaison with offsite control centres and subcontractors.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience in the hydroelectric power industry.
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
Primarily site-based with ability to work from home and at GHR office in Evanton(Depot) and Perth(Fin & Admin)
Full-time position with potential for overtime during peak project periods.
