Army HQ at Andover is where the Army is commanded from and the Chief of the General Staff has the responsibility for preparing, training, and equipping the forces under his command for operations worldwide. The information Directorate leads Land Environment Force Development. The Directorate ensures that the Armys people, sites and information are safe and secure, whilst capitalising on new and emerging technologies to make best use of the information that we hold. This exciting post, in the Principal Security Advisor's (PSyA) team, co-ordinates the responses to security incidents and manages security risks. The Army Warning, Advice and Reporting Point (WARP) is the single authority for the recording, onward reporting, management, and investigation of all types of security incidents within the Army (Personnel, Physical, Information and Cyber). It acts as the front door into the PSyA team for requests for security advice and is responsible for the dissemination of security and threat messaging to the wider Army. You will be contributing to the on-going improvement of the Armys security culture and, as a result, will be provided with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and engage with a broad range of staff at all levels of the Army and the wider Ministry of Defence. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain a wider insight in to both the Civil Service and the Armed Forces, and to facilitate personal development, both within and outside the team. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. You will be required to work on a hybrid basis at Army HQ meaning 3 days per week in Andover office (60% of your time in office) in line with changing priorities. Job description This is an exciting opportunity as we are looking for a confident communicator who will be responsible for responding to Personnel, Physical, Cyber and Information security incidents within a given caseload, along with other general duties. You will join a small team of case managers who are responsible for the recording and hands-on management of the response to security incidents, the dissemination of security messaging, and acting as an enquiry point for security advice. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Case management - You will be responsible for triaging incoming security incident reports, making sure that all relevant stake holders are informed, and directing relevant parties to take containment and investigatory actions. You will ensure all policy and legislative requirements are adhered to in relation to the reporting and management of security incidents. Security products You will actively manage the recording, hosting and dissemination of Defence and Army security products, drafting products when appropriate, and ensuring distribution lists are kept up to date. Policy and process - You will need to develop and maintain a working knowledge of Army and Defence security policy to support your roles and responsibilities, including helping to develop and maintain the Army WARP Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Data - You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of security incident data records, ensuring the data is correctly protected in line with policy and legislative requirements. You will gather and carry out first-line analysis of data to support the production of assurance reports, cultural interventions, and training, education and awareness material. You will need to produce written and verbal stakeholder briefs on specific security incidents. Meetings and relationships - You will be expected to represent Army WARP at relevant internal and external meetings and in support, or in lieu, of the Army WARP Lead or Senior Case Manager, as required, including presenting educational material in relation to the work of Army WARP. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with other parts of the Army and the MOD. Other You will take responsibility for managing the Army WARP group mailbox, answering or referring enquiries as appropriate. After a suitable period in post, you will be required to join a rota of staff providing out of hour cover, which attracts an allowance. Occasional, pre-planned travel is required, for which a full driving licence is desirable. Travel is by MOD vehicles or public transport; there is no requirement to own or have access to a car. The branch is reviewing and overhauling its information management practises and ways of working; you will be expected to engage with these efforts, fully adopting changes and making suggestions for further improvement. The role involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, handling a variety of multi-faceted tasks and dealing with conflicting priorities. Person specification Essential skills and experience: Able to deal with sensitive matters and uphold the need to know principle at all times. A good standard of IT literacy (O365, MS Teams, use of database systems, etc.) The ability to work and make decisions autonomously The ability to understand and interpret multiple data sources Experience in a security related role or of security related responsibilities Desirable skills and experience: The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
