The post holder will support and be guided by the Lead Early Pregnancy CNS on the provision and continued development of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC) and Early Pregnancy Services. Together and with the wider team they will work towards ensuring the service provision meets national standards.
The role will involve the assessment, planning and implementation of care plans for patients attending the Early Pregnancy Service, whilst delivering and documenting factual current information and advice which is evidence based.
The post holder will act as a role model for best practice and demonstrate the Trust Values, whilst providing specialist knowledge and advice to other staff within the service, including primary and secondary care.
The EPAC CNS will work with the EPAC Lead Nurse and Management Team to ensure the service design and processes meet local and national initiatives, targets and key performance indicators, demonstrating the planning and implementation of a high quality, safe model for care within the EPAC and Gynaecology service.
Along with the Lead Early Pregnancy CNS, the CNS will work with medical leads for audit and research, undertaking audits and supporting research trials.
The post holder will support the Gynaecology Matron and Lead Early Pregnancy CNS by participating in the continued development and day to day coordination of the 'Nurse Led' Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic.
Main duties of the job
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
To provide effective, safe, evidence-based patient care in accordance with 'The Code' to women and their families who attend the Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU).
To ensure the smooth day to day running of the department, liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team involved within EPU in order to provide clinical expertise, emotional and psychological support and education to patients and their families.
To progress the EPU service to ensure national guidance and standards are followed as well as develop the service for the future.
Participate in audit, research and teaching.
