A leading public sector organisation has partnered with Beach Baker to recruit a Development Surveyor.
This role will focus on identifying and assessing development opportunities, maximising land use in alignment with strategic objectives.

The team
As part of the Property & Development team, you will contribute to managing a diverse portfolio of corporate and investment assets. This highly skilled team brings extensive surveying expertise across three key areas:
* Corporate Estate Management - Ensuring council services have the right property to operate effectively.
* Investment Management - Driving revenue generation to support essential public services.
* Development & Regeneration - Delivering innovative regeneration projects, maximising opportunities within the existing portfolio, and identifying new development prospects.
The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the long term property strategy and driving impactful development projects within the community.
You will oversee a range of development projects, advising on promotion opportunities, acquisitions, and disposals to support the council's development programme.
* Assist in appointing consultants, working with procurement teams to implement property development proposals.
* Lead commercial negotiations for disposals, acquisitions, and development-related agreements.
* Manage and influence stakeholders, including community groups, to progress key projects.
* Report on and manage capital expenditure to ensure development projects align with objectives.
This role offers hybrid working, with a blend of home, office, and site visits. You should be prepared for occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Ideal candidate profile
* RICS accredited degree in Real Estate and ideally MRICS (or equivalent).
* Post-qualification experience in a large private or ideally public sector organisation / local authority.
* Strong IT skills, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and engage effectively with stakeholders.
* Capable of prioritising work, delivering projects, and negotiating effectively.
* Knowledge of land and property marketing, acquisitions, disposals, and planning procedures.
