Hays are pleased to work with an excellent not-for-profit organisation in South Wales who have been operating within their sector for over 40 years. Providing essential services for those most in need, this organisation are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their friendly team.
Your New Role
Below is a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities that you will be tasked with:
1. Financial Transactions: Record accurately and promptly; code and allocate receipts, payments, and journals.
2. Collaboration: Ensure timely and accurate financial information with staff.
3. Debtor Management: Manage monthly processes and follow escalation procedures.
4. Payments: Handle cheque requisitions, allocate office payments, and ensure secure handling of cash and cheques.
5. Reconciliation: Maintain and reconcile petty cash; reconcile sheets monthly per scheme; reconcile housing benefit debtor balances monthly.
6. Invoices: Authorise, validate, issue, and calculate sales and recharge invoices; post and allocate receipts, payments, and staff travel claims.
7. Monitoring: Financially monitor designated services; create action plans during visits; investigate financial irregularities.
8. Support: Assist Finance Manager with management accounts, annual budget, reports, tenders, and monitoring fundraising and grant spending.
9. Systems: Use the organisation’s management information systems for accurate financial data.
10. Compliance: Follow the organisation’s policies and procedures; maintain confidentiality per GDPR.
11. Flexibility: Work flexibly to meet deadlines.
What You Will Need
* AAT Qualification or studying (desirable)
* Sage experience
* Excellent attention to detail and team working skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure
* IT literate
* Microsoft Excel proficiency
