A purpose with national security at its heart and international scope. With opportunities to travel and take on responsibilities that truly matter. This role as a Technical Security Countermeasures Officer will give you all those rewards - and more. At FCDO Services, we protect the UK's interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters. Beyond our worldwide work in construction, logistics, and more, we're also home to the UK National Authority for Counter Eavesdropping (UK NACE). Working at the cutting edge of technology, the teams at UK NACE guard against technical espionage, provide policy advice to the government, investigate threats, and more- all to protect our nation's secrets. Now, you've got the opportunity to join them. Keeping the nation's secrets, secret. Working on one-of-a-kind projects. Vital to national security. It all matters. Enable critical radio countermeasures from UK conferences to global summits As Technical Security Countermeasures Officer you'll be a vital member of the Radio Countermeasures team within UK NACE. This role is all about assessing the vulnerability of sensitive assets that are critical to the UK's security. Specifically, you'll facilitate technical security elements for conferences, events and general embassy business. You'll do this at venues, diplomatic posts and embassies in the UK and sometimes overseas. Looking holistically at anything within your remit that could be compromised in a technical attack, you'll support the development of technologies and strategies that keep people and information safe. From carrying out crucial technical inspections, through to providing valued advice and consultation, you'll demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills. You'll work with a wide range of customers, stakeholders and international partners - from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, through to other government departments, the police and local authorities. You'll draw on a wide range of technical skills to prepare and maintain equipment, and you'll bring your keen eye for detail to bear on vital administration and logistics. You'll also make important contributions to the design, development and testing of monitoring systems that are key to radio countermeasures. In all you do, you'll be sure to keep up with the latest research and tech that can benefit our essential work. Work on high profile projects where your expertise is valued Working as part of UK NACE is unlike anything else you'll ever do. You'll have access to high profile work at the heart of government and international diplomacy - so we will rely not only on your technical skills but also on your discretion and ability to be diplomatic. It's important for you to be adaptable as you may be working on a major international conference one day, then looking into basement cabling at an embassy the day after. Calm under pressure, you have plenty of ideas and you thrive when thinking on your feet. You'll bring to the role good knowledge of the radio frequency (RF) spectrum, together with understanding of installations - for example, cabling infrastructure. Good IT skills are also essential. We expect you to have a Level 3 qualification in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline. You're open to ongoing technical training and happy to work on projects overseas from time to time. At FCDO Services you'll discover a platform to use your skills and knowledge in unique ways that help to protect us all.
