Democratic Services has responsibility for ensuring that Herefordshire Council is able to take locally important decisions taken by our elected councillors. The Democratic Services Support Assistants will support Councillors and Officers on the operation of the Council’s decision making arrangements.
The successful candidates will take a leading role on managing and supporting the council’s forward plan, in-person/hybrid committee meetings (including live streaming and recording committee proceedings) and logistical support for school admission appeals. You will enable the effective facilitation of council decision making and be involved in supporting ad hoc project work, such as Community Governance Reviews, and assisting officers and councillors with member briefings and political group consultations.
This role is fast paced at times of heavy council business and you will have frontline involvement in supporting the council’s main decision making processes. The successful candidate will be working on a day-to-day basis supporting councillors and officers of the council to act compliantly in their local decision making roles. You will be highly motivated, organised and adaptable to changing working practices. You will become part of a dynamic and professional team as well as being supported in developing your own skills and experiences as an individual.
