The core purpose of this exciting new role is to ensure the high quality and compliance of Lidl’s customs activity. With your extensive customs knowledge, you’ll be contributing to compliance processes and protecting Lidl from compliance risk. As well as being a specialist within customs classification of goods, you’ll also be managing a team of 3. Your input as a team player and customs professional, will have a direct impact on our operations, stores, and millions of customers.

What you'll do
1. Managing a team of specialist’s day to day including delegation and workload management
2. Training and coaching members of the customs classification team
3. Overseeing the process of customs classification to ensure adherence to import controls, documentation requirements and customs duties and taxes.
4. Advising on customs classification procedures
5. Checking, reviewing, and analysing customs classification data to identify trends, areas of concern and improvement opportunities.
6. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and advising on customs classification related issues
What you'll need
7. Strong knowledge and experience in the field of customs classification (e.g., HS codes, GIRs, import controls)
8. Experience classifying goods with an ability to identify applicable legislation, with continuous monitoring of regulatory updates and ability to implement appropriate changes.
9. Level 4+ Diploma in International Trade, or other applicable customs and trade certifications and diploma, preferred.
10. In-depth knowledge of UK Customs regulations, trade compliance, and international trade agreements. Excise knowledge desirable for the role.
11. Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to manage and develop a team
12. Analytical mind-set with the ability to analyse large data sets and build dashboards
13. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
14. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to use their own initiative
15. Highly focused and accurate with an uncompromising eye for detail
16. Ability to accommodate last minute requests with ease and efficiency.
