About the role:
Welcome to the dynamic world of BYD! We are seeking a Logistics Specialist (with a focus on import and export) to join our new vehicle operations team. As part of the growing BYD family, you will be vital in supporting our rapid expansion.
With the recent launch of our new vehicles last year, we anticipate exciting growth throughout 2024 and beyond.
As a Logistics Specialist at BYD, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of sustainable transportation and be an integral part of our exciting journey.
Working within the passenger car division, you will play a key role in driving our expansion and strengthening our presence in the UK. You will also provide our retailer and fleet partners with industry-leading service levels and a commitment to customer excellence.
This position is office-based in Uxbridge, West London, and will report to the UK Vehicle Logistics Manager. You will collaborate with the vehicle operations team and other key stakeholders across our business.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Responsible for maintaining vehicle data within our inventory management system, ensuring accurate and regular updates.
* Handle customer and supplier queries related to shipping and clearance status (Road, Air, and Ocean).
* Liaise with shipping agents and freight forwarders to coordinate shipments.
* Make the best use of logistics resources (i.e., compound space and transport resources) by working closely with sales and planning teams.
* Implement import & export strategies, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
* Maintain accurate records of all import and export transactions.
* Develop logistics service providers, negotiate shipping rates, and review invoices.
* Assist with resolving issues related to delays, customs, or documentation.
* Manage and maintain department standard operation processes.
* Ad-hoc tasks arranged by line manager.
What are we looking for?
* 2+ years of experience in vehicle logistics or import & export field.
* Ability to handle and process/understand data/forecast/planning.
* Knowledge of Incoterms, Customs Procedures, and Commodity Codes.
* Well-organized with attention to detail and a hands-on mentality.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel).
* Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

* Office-based role (4 days a week/1 day working from home) in BYD's new state-of-the-art and modern offices in Uxbridge, Middlesex, West of London (please ensure your daily commute is manageable before applying).
