Mechanical Engineer/Plumber
The post-holder will be expected to provide comprehensive repairs and maintenance to a range of commercial heating, hot water, and ventilation applications, including repairs to sanitary and drainage pipework. Experience working on aged equipment and systems is also desirable.
The role consists of fault-finding analysis, maintenance, repairs, installation, and upgrading work to all systems listed above on a planned and reactive basis to ensure that systems are operating safely and effectively and follow appropriate regulatory standards and good practice.
The role requires a candidate who is qualified and has a wealth of experience in M&E Services and Maintenance and general PPMs. A good understanding of dynamic risk assessments and safe working procedures is essential.
The Package:
* Salary £40,000 - £45,000
* 8am – 4.30pm (Monday – Friday)

Responsibilities:
1. To carry out installation and maintenance of heating and hot water ancillary installations of all types in commercial buildings (including pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, control gear, and other associated equipment) and be fully conversant with all aspects of building heating and hot water delivery systems.
2. To carry out installation and maintenance of plumbing, drainage, and sanitation installations of all types in commercial buildings and be fully conversant with all aspects of these systems.
3. To carry out inspection of and maintenance work to Ventilation installations of all types in commercial buildings and be fully conversant with all aspects of these systems.
4. To undertake fault-finding diagnosis, problem-solving, and analysis of plant operation pertaining to the operation and efficacy of the installed mechanical systems (including drainage, heating, and HVAC systems).
5. To carry out relevant testing and certification of mechanical plant and systems in accordance with all appropriate regulations and within the remit of the post-holder’s relevant qualifications.
6. To support associated multi-trades duties such as minor general fabric and plumbing work.
7. To carry out and complete all works to a high standard, in a competent manner and to leave the site of works in a clean and tidy condition.
8. To liaise with other staff and external contractors in a positive and cooperative manner to ensure the timely and proper completion of works to support reasonable operational expectations.
9. To ensure appropriate and timely completion of tasks, followed by submission of all relevant paperwork, job/time sheets, and any necessary certification accordingly.
10. To work with the line manager and provide advice and information relating to any technical matters.
11. Ensure that any required qualifications for this position remain valid and that any necessary training is arranged and undertaken in accordance with appropriate timescales. To attend meetings, training sessions, and conferences as required.
12. Be commercially aware and be responsible for ordering required materials from suppliers in an efficient manner, following the company’s purchasing procedures.
13. To always act in accordance with the Group’s rules, policies, procedures, and ethos.
14. To supervise, direct, and positively motivate junior staff and/or apprentices who may be appointed to assist and support the wider performance of this role.
15. To carry out, as and when required, any additional tasks and responsibilities as are reasonably compatible with this job description and its objectives.

* Minimum 10 years’ experience
* Vented and Unvented hot water systems
* L8
Desirable:
* C&G/NVQ for any HVAC systems
* PASMA and IPAF
* BOAS training or qualification
