Your role in the team
The User Experience Designer is responsible for leading efforts in applying knowledge of human capabilities, technology, industry design best practices, and standards to create user interfaces for Allstate digital products. As a User Experience Designer Senior Consultant I, you will collaborate on cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes in service of Allstate customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design user interfaces that meet customer needs and drive business outcomes.
* Use human-centred design methods and tools to solve problems and create user-centric designs.
* Ensure designs balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
* Advocate for UX design principles and standards within project teams.
* Communicate design ideas and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Contribute to design research, usability testing, and iterative design improvements.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Role:
* Lead end-to-end design efforts, focusing on medium to high-complexity features and projects.
* Independently drive design solutions and implement tactical UX work in collaboration with development teams.
* Conduct and facilitate usability testing, mock-up interviews, heuristic reviews, and other evaluation methods.
* Educate and inform teams on the role of UX design, technical feasibility, and profitability drivers.
* Identify project risks and blockers, taking proactive steps to resolve issues and ensure project timelines are met.
* Mentor junior designers, providing feedback and guidance to support their growth and skill development.
* Advocate for continuous improvement of UX processes within the team.
Essential Skills
* All candidates must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy.
* Minimum of 2 years (Consultant) or 3 years (Senior Consultant) of experience in UX design or a related field, with exposure to both visual and interaction design.
* Proficiency in UX design principles, human-centred design methodologies, and industry best practices.
* Strong proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
* Prior experience of presenting design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Proven experience working within cross-functional teams, actively engaging in design discussions and feedback loops.
Additional criteria for Senior Role:
* Experience in UX design, with proven expertise in leading design projects from concept to implementation.
* Ability to independently analyse and solve complex UX problems, balancing user needs with business and technical constraints.
* Experience mentoring junior designers and leading collaborative design processes.
* Previous demonstrable experience of suggesting and implementing improvements to UX processes and team workflows.
