Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Credit & Collections Manager, the role will be responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of a fast paced accounts receivable function.
The credit team lead will supervise and lead a small team of two, assisting the team with ongoing guidance, training and mentoring.
You will apply a structured approach to analyse and credit assess our retailer estate alongside staying up to date with the economic factors affecting our retailers. Managing credit risk and ensuring retailer exposure is minimal is vital to success.
Ensuring retailer collection processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Ensuring risk is managed and reviewed periodically and security bonds are maintained in order to minimise exposure to bad debts.
Provide sufficient resolutions to problems and queries to accounts receivable processes. Managing and implementing new reporting across credit control. Continually drive process improvement.
Department Description:
The Finance Operations team is made of the credit and collections team, Purchase to Pay team and the data and insight team.
Responsible for:
1. Retailer cash collections of c £40m per week
2. The accurate and timely distribution of c 25k invoices per week
3. Managing and monitoring credit exposure to minimise bad debt risk
4. Ensure business adherence to the credit policy
5. Ensuring all suppliers are paid accurately and in a timely fashion
6. Ensure business adherence to the P2P policy
7. Ensure all business expenses are paid to employees in a timely fashion and inline with policy
8. Ensure retailer master data in up to date
9. Ensure SAP entries are audited and validated
Team Description:
The Credit & Collections team ensures that the business has financial liquidity to meet its internal and external obligations.
Responsible for:
1. Managing all funds coming into the business via our retailer estate or any other channels;
2. Protecting participants' funds.
3. Mitigates against risk of bad debt exposure.
Key Accountabilities or Duties:
1. Responsible for managing the daily activities, including but not limited to, daily banking, cash allocation and reconciliation.
2. Ensure the weekly direct debit file is prepared, authorised and released on time.
3. Ensuring the return direct debit files are prepared on time.
4. Reporting on outstanding debt, bad debt and other stats as and when required by way of KPIs
5. Monitoring weekly collection updates and failures.
6. Ensuring that accounts are prepared and passed to the debt collection agency.
7. Assisting with the Bad Debt report for review and sign off.
8. Assistance with the processing of Credit Checks.
9. Support the Credit & Collections Manager to help achieve the Finance Operations teams KPI's so management are able to track performance
10. Ensuring all month end processes are completed including month end reconciliations.
11. Assist with changes to processes and procedures.
12. Attending internal departmental meetings.
13. Assisting the credit & Collections Manager with any ad hoc projects.
14. Assist with inbound and outbound debt chasing calls as and when necessary.
15. Assisting with team management including annual staff appraisals, 121 and setting of team's objectives.
