The difference you will make as a Programme Manager You will be reporting to the Head of Programmes, the role holder will play an integral role in coordinating the delivery of a complex programme, which makes up an expansive portfolio of initiatives at Group level, which covers every aspect of our service offer. Our transformation agenda covers broad and complex system integration projects, as well as initiatives that help to modernise Riverside and deliver value to our customers and colleagues. As a Programme Manager, it is vital the role holder can demonstrate expert knowledge and practical experience of coordinating a programme or work, with projects that cater for different project methodologies – including Waterfall, Agile and Lean, all within the constraints of a defined budget, timescales and specific resources. Role Profile Lead, motivate and engage with the Project Managers to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service, developing and implementing operational objectives to underpin the Group’s overall strategic objectives. Collaborate with key senior stakeholders, including the Head of Programmes and Head of PMO to understand the Group’s portfolio pipeline and current and future delivery requirements to ensure effective resource planning and project delivery across the function. Oversee all in-scope projects, ensuring the Project Delivery Lifecycle is embedded and adhered to by Project Managers, business requirements and proposed solutions are captured effectively, are clearly understood, and align to business processes, and appropriate resources are deployed to effectively deliver programme and project requirements. Engage effectively and build rapport with a range of stakeholders, including Project Sponsors, to gain an in-depth business understanding and to ensure projects meets their requirements appropriately. Work with the wider BT team to ensure seamless project and change delivery from concept through to business-as-usual operation. Manage and oversee the mobilisation of key project team members including third-party suppliers and partners, providing leadership and direction to ensure key activities are carried out within timescales and effective lines of communication are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitate the development and sign-off of robust business cases for all projects in scope and accountable for ensuring ongoing viability of projects and ensuring the anticipated benefits are realised. Conducting assurance checks and mini-internal audits of projects, to ensure quality and provide training and development to our BT colleagues Manage risks and issues, in line with the Group’s framework, ensuring effective resolution of problems or escalation as appropriate. Represent projects at key governance forums, ensuring project delivery is in line with associated forum standards and guidance. Providing timely, accurate and relevant programme and project reporting to support our single governance model (SGM) Ensure that Benefits Management is an integral part of each project as defined in the Riverside Project Lifecycle including identifying, defining and mapping benefits. Collating project benefits and feeding them into our PMO function for monitoring Overseeing lessons learned activities to help mature our delivery service Monitoring and reporting on project budgets at project, programme and sponsor levels Providing thought leadership to build a high-value Programme and Project Management function Manage the performance and development of the Project Managers, providing expertise and coaching as required, ensuring a quality service is provided and ensuring under performance is dealt with appropriately. Person specification Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Prince2, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), Agile and/or Lean qualification, or equivalent. Strong programme and project management skills in planning, resourcing and budgeting. Experience of identifying, defining and managing benefits for projects Experience of managing structured stakeholder engagement and communications for high profile change projects. Thorough understanding of risk management methodologies. Effective stakeholder management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully negotiate, persuade and influence others. Experience of successfully managing large scale budgets in line with agreed financial protocols. Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
