Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: 2 years

What it's like to work here
You'll work alongside the Estates team, principally based at the Estate workshop at Cotehele. The Estates team has supported the Cotehele Estate for hundreds of years and you will become a part of this historic heritage.
The Cotehele Estate comprises many types of historic buildings and construction types, from farmhouses with medieval roots, through late 19th century cottages, right up to much more modern structures. They all present different and interesting challenges. This is where the majority of your time will be spent, however occasionally we support other members of our team across Cornwall.
The wider team that you will become a part of, in supporting the National Trust's Let Estate, is supported by Building Supervisors, Building Surveyors and Estate Managers. We work together to deliver a safe and comfortable environment for our tenanted properties.
You'll also be introduced to much wider work than just construction, with the National Trust taking a leading and exciting role in reversing nature's decline and improving land, air and water condition to combat climate change and other important challenges.
What you'll be doing
Variety is guaranteed with no two days the same. The repair tasks to building fabric are sometimes complimented with minor refurbishment works or new construction.
You'll work in a team of three, with another General Trade, and a Building Supervisor, who has overall control. Your team will be balanced so you can assist one another with skills other than perhaps your own speciality. The overall aim is to provide an efficient first line building maintenance capability for our properties and their occupants. Larger or more complex tasks are carried out by established supply chain contractors and occasionally you would work alongside them. At the end of the day - it's all about a team effort!
All necessary training, clothing, on site vehicles, tools and PPE are included. A laptop, for use in the office, will also be provided.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
