Interim Senior Housing Options Practitioner

Pay Rate: £27.30 per hour PAYE (approx)
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2 months

With your line management experience, you will lead a team of Housing Options Officers within the Relief Team, focusing on reducing temporary accommodation usage. You’ll provide expert technical advice and support to individuals with a range of complex housing needs, often requiring a multi-agency partnership approach. Your role will involve assessing and addressing the housing needs of individuals, ensuring they receive the professional and specialist guidance necessary to meet their housing goals effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist knowledge, expertise and advice to the Housing Options Team on a wide range of housing practices, reviews and processes through the effective coordination of customer demands.
2. Manage a team of Housing Options staff delivering statutory and non-statutory homelessness services.
3. Provide support to the team in making complex decisions and using professional judgement in accordance with relevant legislation.
4. Work in a multi-agency setting, building effective relationships and developing interventions with a range of partners on complex and often contentious casework situations in the pursuit of prevention of homelessness.
5. Be the lead practitioner and representative for the service in a range of multi-disciplinary settings.
Key Requirements:
1. CIH level 4 (or equivalent) or ability to achieve qualification
2. Significant experience in housing services including experience of giving advice to the public on complex and contentious housing matters
3. Substantial experience of delivering customer focused services in a multi-agency setting
4. Proven experience of successfully providing a high performing service that demonstrate effective employee behaviours
5. Excellent skills in motivating and listening to people
6. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
7. Proven ability to make decisions and analyse and resolve complex problems creatively
8. Excellent ability to demonstrate professional curiosity, analyse a range of complex housing & social care scenarios & confront difficult situations
