Senior Quantity Surveyor/Managing Surveyor
Location: Ruislip
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum plus vehicle allowance and additional benefits
VGC are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Managing Quantity Surveyor to head up our commercial team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the commercial team for a recruitment business, supporting the delivery teams, and ensuring efficient billing processes and achievement of maximum margin to the organisation.
2. Provide strategic commercial advice and support at all stages of the projects from tendering through to final accounting, and offer practical advice to management on contractual matters.
3. Develop relationships with key contacts & clients to manage current and future contracts.
4. Lead commercial activities on projects to ensure company achieves full and maximum value for all work delivered.
5. Ensure all members of the team observe the commercial processes & standards as outlined in the Business Management System.
6. Line management of the commercial team including a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, and 2 Commercial Administrators.
7. Support the tendering team with the preparation of the commercial submission.
8. Following contract sign off by the director, ensure commercial team set up projects promptly on VGC Systems in line with agreed terms and conditions and make sure relevant checks/audits are in place.
9. Ensure operational teams are briefed on the project terms/requirements/processes.
10. Ensure the payroll and sales ledger team are briefed on the requirements for administering the project.
11. Ensure all applications/invoices (forecast & actual) are prepared accurately, on time, and in the appropriate format.
12. Support the senior credit controller with cash collection.
13. Review monthly margin reports to identify discrepancies between actual and contract margins.
14. Maintain good relationships with client commercial teams.
15. Attend weekly operational and monthly management meetings.
16. Support the operational teams with reviewing and analysing divisional profit and loss reports.
17. Review all the standard commercial documentation on an ongoing basis and implement changes when required.
18. Audit responsibility for commercial procedures.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
1. 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
2. Professional membership to RICS or CIOB.
3. Experience of overseeing contracts within mainline rail, LU, and civil engineering sectors.
4. Experience of overseeing CIJC WRA, CESA, NAECI projects.
5. Experience of working within an employment or staffing business within a commercial role.
