About the role As an HR Deputy Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting and developing our most senior leaders, directly impacting our ability to serve the nation. With fresh ideas and perspectives, you’ll have direct influence on building and delivering our people strategies and developing a strategic agenda for organisational change – maximising operational performance. As well as working with the HR function to ensure the needs of Border Force are appropriately represented, you’ll lead and develop a team of HR professionals, building great leadership at all levels across the organisation to deliver sustained high performance. Building strong business relationships, you’ll support the successful delivery of organisational priorities, including – but not limited to – workforce, resourcing and learning strategies, and ensuring they align with the wider Home Office strategies. Border Force is the second largest law enforcement organisation in England and Wales after the Metropolitan Police, and you’ll be joining a very large and complex operational area, where an organisation structure change programme is currently taking place. So you’ll need to be ready to take on a high-level of responsibility and be prepared to face many challenges. About you An experienced HR Director, you’ll bring a wealth of skills, including problem solving, strategic insight and negotiation. With a track record of delivering positive outcomes at senior level, you’ll have experience in recruitment and talent development, operational strategy and transformational change management. Able to manage and maintain complex stakeholder relationships, you’ll be confident to challenge when necessary, using both data and analytical ability. You’ll be a Chartered Fellow Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD) member or hold an equivalent professional HR qualification. This will help us understand your skills and experience and get to know you better. If successful, we’ll then invite you to an individual leadership assessment (ILA) which will consist of psychometric tests and a virtual meeting with an assessor. Further to this you will be required to conduct a virtual Staff Engagement Exercise (SEE) for which you will need to be available on 6 th March 2025. The final selection panel interview will include a presentation and be held in London at the Home Office. Both, the ILA and SEE will be assessed along with the interview.
