Brief Description
Provide a comprehensive [Buildings] asset management and engineering support service to the region / route teams.
About the role (External)
Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
1. Provide Buildings systems engineering input to the determination of appropriate engineering maintenance regimes and activity volumes for Buildings assets in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications. Providing necessary assistance to determine compliance with suitability and robustness of maintenance regimes.
2. Provide a comprehensive systems engineering support service across the [Buildings] asset base throughout the North West route and across delivery units as and when required. Monitor and strive to improve the technical competence of engineers associated with [Buildings] engineering with the NR Delivery organisations or Train Operating Companies.
3. Provide technical briefings associated with [Buildings] systems engineering to engineers in delivery units in order that the purpose, as well as the content of standards, specification, etc. is understood.
4. Review and make recommendations on derogation and non-compliance applications to [Buildings] systems engineering related standards.
5. Review and monitor progression of potential improvements to [Buildings] systems from delivery units; provide feedback to the originators.
6. Carry out asset condition inspections that will inform the [Buildings] asset condition database and the renewals work bank. Lead initiatives, as directed, to improve.
7. Provide advice and guidance within the business and other asset engineers in the production of prioritised business focused [Buildings] systems renewal proposals.
8. Participate in, and lead as directed, [Buildings] engineering activities in support of assurance processes including the maintenance audit programmes and engineering verification.
9. Monitor the reliability and performance of [Buildings] systems related assets across the region / route and instigate, lead and participate in the implementation of corrective actions to improve.
10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of region / route asset management plans.
11. Participate in investigations of incidents as required.
12. Contribute to the development of revised standards and policies relating to [Buildings] assets.
13. Assist in the review and acceptance process for engineering project designs as and when required.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
* Incorporated Engineer
* Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
* Membership of relevant professional institution
* Substantial [Buildings] engineering experience
* A detailed understanding of the maintenance of [Buildings] assets
* A sound knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
* Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
* Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain
We would also like but it isn't crucial to have/to be:
* Chartered engineer
* Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
* Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment

* Salary: Band 3C starting at £55,596 and increasing to £62,546
