Role Overview : This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in building services. The ideal candidate will be experienced in designing, specifying, and overseeing the implementation of mechanical systems for projects ranging in value from £100,000 to £20 million. These projects include educational facilities, commercial offices, residential developments, and Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) initiatives. Key Responsibilities : Develop detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and drawings for a range of building services projects, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and renewable energy solutions. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project integration and alignment with client objectives. Lead site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical evaluations to support initial project proposals and design development. Work on decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects, focusing on systems like Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP), Ground Source Heat Pumps, and other sustainable technologies. Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, focusing on both functionality and energy efficiency. Provide ongoing technical support during project construction phases, including site visits, troubleshooting, and liaising with contractors. Skills and Experience : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within building services. Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) with a strong understanding of building information modeling (BIM). Experience with decarbonisation and renewable energy projects is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of relevant building codes and standards. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines. Why Join?
