The Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research (Perkins) is a leading Western Australian medical research centre within the UWA Medical School, dedicated to tackling some of the world’s biggest health issues. Our world-class teams accelerate the delivery of life-saving breakthroughs to improve the health of all Western Australians both today and for our future generations. This position is based within the Laboratory for Cancer Medicine located at QEII campus in Nedlands.
About the opportunity
* Provide a high level of assistance to researchers within the Laboratory for Cancer Medicine
* Focus on evaluating RNA-based therapies in preclinical models derived from cancer cell lines, patient-derived material (organoids), and small animal models
* Perform the orthotopic engraftment to establish tumours in mice and administering treatments, as well as monitoring, dissection of mice, tissue collection, microscopy, analysis, and collation of data.
About you
* Relevant tertiary qualification in biomedical science or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience.
* Demonstrated research experience working with rodents including technical procedures such as injections, surgical techniques, and/or other procedures that require a high level of precision.
* Proficiency in a range of computing skills involved in data collection, laboratory record-keeping, and data analysis.
* Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team.
Note: A current National Police Clearance Certificate will be required by the successful applicant.
