Job Description Principal Purpose of Post The Kitchen Porter is responsible for keeping the kitchen areas clean, washing up and assisting the chefs with the preparation of food as required. The Kitchen Porter is expected to work to the highest possible standards as set by the Chef Manager. The Kitchen Porter may be required to assist with other duties as necessary. This is a variable hours contract. Key Responsibilities Keep the kitchen area clean and adhere to cleaning rotas. Ensure the kitchen area is a safe environment for all employees. Ensure that all food preparation areas and kitchen equipment is cleaned to the highest standard using the correct products inline with the cleaning policy. Ensure the kitchen is always kept clean and tidy, following all food and safety procedures. Ensure deliveries are put away and checked in/stored following the stock handling policy and health and safety policy. Keep the pot wash area tidy and ensure that all crockery is clean and restocked. Assist chef(s) in basic food preparation when needed. Ensure stock control policies and guidelines are adhered to. Assist as required with stock movement and stock takes. Be fully aware of and practice the need to use the correct chemicals and store them in the correct manner. Ensure with meticulous care that all food hygiene and health and safety regulations are adhered to and that the kitchen is always prepared for inspection by the E.H.O. Ensure that all environmental health regulations are met; adhere to COSHH and HACCP guidelines. Effectively and regularly communicate with senior chefs and line managers especially regarding operational issues. Be flexible to work in line with the demands of the role.
