Are you a sports coach or have a rugby background looking to make a difference in education? GSL Education seeks an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a school setting in Hull. This role is perfect for those who can bring resilience, motivation, and a team-player mindset to engage and support young people.
Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
* Use sport and physical activity as a tool to engage and motivate students.
* Encourage teamwork, discipline, and confidence-building through structured activities.
* Support students with behaviour management, emotional regulation, and social skills.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement individual learning and behaviour plans.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Requirements of the Science Teacher:
* Background in sports coaching, rugby, or physical education (desirable).
* Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs (preferred but not essential).
* Strong communication and mentoring skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships and encourage students’ growth.
* A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
* Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
