About the Role
This position sits within the Restructuring & Insolvency Team, which is part of the wider Commercial Disputes Resolution team. The role is not solely contentious; a broad knowledge and significant experience of both contentious and non-contentious insolvency and restructuring law are required. The team handles a wide range of corporate and personal insolvency matters, offering a mix of advisory, preventative, and insolvency process-related work.
This role offers the opportunity to be involved in high-profile cases, work closely with a diverse client base, and contribute to the growth and development of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Advising a wide range of clients, including insolvency practitioners, corporate entities, directors, shareholders, and individuals.
* Handling both contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters.
* Managing complex restructuring processes and insolvency-related litigation.
* Providing strategic advice on administrations, liquidations, CVLs, receiverships, and directors' duties.
* Acting on a range of antecedent transactions, misfeasance claims, and director disqualification matters.
* Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and paralegals.
* Maintaining excellent financial and administrative file management.
* Contributing to business development initiatives and strengthening client relationships.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
* Extensive experience in restructuring & insolvency law, including both contentious and non-contentious aspects.
* Proven ability to advise on corporate and personal insolvency matters.
* Hands-on experience in:
* Administrations (appointment/trading/pre-packs/floating charge issues)
* Receiverships (appointment and management to sale)
* Members’ voluntary liquidations
* Compulsory liquidations and CVLs (procedural advice, SIP2 investigations, strategic planning)
* Antecedent transactions and directors’ duties cases
* Director disqualification and disclaimer in liquidation
* Post-bankruptcy matters
* Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple deadlines with excellent attention to detail.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, support, and mentor junior team members.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong IT literacy, including MS Office and legal information systems.
* Experience using SharePoint or similar document management platforms.
