Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, andmotivated Treatment Room Nurse to work at Glenridding Health Centre. Thesuccessful candidate will have excellent communication skills to work with theexisting committed team, helping drive forward change and improving healthoutcomes. Respiratory training would be advantageous for this role.
8 hours per week (two mornings, 08:30 - 12:30, a week - notconsecutively, preferably Tuesdays and Fridays or Mondays and Thursdays)

Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver care to Practice patients, treatments, preventative care, screening and patient education. They will provide high quality evidence based care to meet the health and social needs of the Practice population, working within the boundaries set out by the regulated standards, and working collaboratively with the General Practice Team.

Clinical Skills
1) Works independently as a Practice Nurse / Treatment Room Nurse with treatment room skills within the scope of professional practice.
2) Undertakes the monitoring of Long-term conditions, including asthma, COPD, diabetes and chronic heart disease.
3) Excellent communication skills through patient consultation and nursing assessment of physical, psychological and social needs.
a) Takes an accurate history, building rapport towards a therapeutic relationship.
b) Assess, plan and implements patient centred plan of care for patients and refer when necessary to other healthcare professionals for further specialised care.
4) Undertake routine assessments in relation to individuals health and wellbeing and evaluate the outcomes of care.
5) Performs investigations and uses core clinical skill and competence.
a) Recognition of abnormal vital signs observing adult respiratory rate and effort, heart rate rhythm and volume, temperature and blood pressures as appropriate.
b) Perform investigative procedures including; Performing ECGs, Urinalysis, Blood Glucose monitoring, Venepuncture, measuring and interpreting Peak Flow.
6) Adapts to change within working situation managing unscheduled emergency situations.
a) Basic life support, severe breathing problems, serious cardiovascular problems, collapsed patients and seriously ill patients.
7) Delivers a high standard of care without discrimination to all ages, sexes and ethnic origins of the population through continuum of life.
8) Promote improving the health of the individual through providing advice and education to aid adjustment of lifestyle.
9) Recognise own limitations, seek assistance and refer appropriately.

Communication

a) Liaises when necessary with general practitioners, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Reception & Admin Team, Paramedics, Accident and Emergency, Secondary Care, District nurses, Community MDT, social workers, mental health team, and Social Care Teams.
2) With Primary care nursing team giving support and advice.
3) With reception staff regarding patient information.
4) Recognise and effectively manages situations where there are barriers to effective communication.
