We are currently seeking a Calibration Engineer to join our dynamic team. Role Overview We are recruiting a Calibration Engineer to work on client sites across the UK, with. You will primarily serve petrochemical plants or refineries, calibrating and maintaining flow meters used to transport products such as petrol, diesel, and kerosene. Additional calibration work will be required at our Ellesmere Port facility. You will be an essential SGS representative, ensuring excellent communication, professionalism, and customer relationship management while delivering technical expertise. Key Responsibilities Perform calibration, verification, testing, repair, and refurbishment of flow meters, both independently and as part of a team. Produce calibration certificates using SGS software. Manage workload efficiently and complete job sheets, timesheets, and expense claims accurately. Fault find, problem-solve, and provide solutions proactively. Follow international standards and procedures for servicing and calibration tasks. Communicate effectively with clients, office staff, and other Calibration Engineers. Maintain a professional approach at all times, ensuring effective customer service and relationship-building. Prepare and issue method statements and risk assessments. Drive the company van (full, clean UK driving licence required). Main Purpose of Role Calibrate and certify storage tanks and fuel meters on-site or at client premises. Assist in expanding SGS’s calibration services. Perform tank calibration and measurement services as required. Key Accountabilities Test and calibrate meters and tanks according to relevant standards (e.g., HM20, JIG). Maintain a working knowledge of meter technologies and codes of practice. Schedule and manage calibration work effectively Skills & Knowledge Essential: Knowledge of UKAS and other accreditation requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of fuel meters, calibration processes, and relevant standards (IP, ASTM, BS/HM). Working knowledge of oil meters and electronic control systems. Desirable: Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025. Experience with electronic metering controls (Accuload, Masterload). LGV Category C or CE licence. Experience with volumetric calibrations (Rig 2, Rig 4, Rig 8, Rig 29).
