Are you passionate about inspiring young minds through the study of languages? A well-respected secondary school in Portsmouth, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join their team on a maternity cover basis from April. This position is open to experienced teachers and ECTs, offering a fantastic opportunity to develop and flourish in a supportive and dynamic environment.
As an MFL teacher, you will play a vital role in enriching students' understanding of the world through language learning. Teaching one or more modern foreign languages (e.g., French, Spanish, or German), you will ignite curiosity, foster cultural awareness, and equip students with essential communication skills for their future.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging and interactive MFL lessons to students across KS3 and KS4.
* Instill a love for language learning, encouraging students to develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
* Tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those with SEND or EAL.
* Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
* Contribute to the design and implementation of an inspiring and inclusive MFL curriculum.
* Promote a culture of high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement in the classroom.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to share resources, strategies, and best practices.
* Participate in school-wide activities, including cultural events, trips, and enrichment programs.
Qualifications:
* A qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent, with a strong subject knowledge in one or more modern foreign languages.
* Enthusiastic and adaptable, with the ability to inspire and engage students of varying abilities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students and staff.
* A commitment to upholding the school’s high standards and inclusive ethos.
* For ECTs, a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive framework designed to help you succeed.
