The Position
We are currently seeking a meticulous
and dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic team on a full-time
basis at Highland Coast Hotels. Reporting directly to the Group Financial
Controller, this role offers a unique opportunity to support the financial
operations of our diverse hotel portfolio. As an integral member of our finance
team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of
financial processes and procedures across our hotels.
This role is remote/homebased
with the ideal candidate based in Inverness or the Highlands as the role may
require travel to our portfolio of hotels across the North Highlands. A valid driving licence is also essential.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Financial Processing and Record Keeping: Manage
the company purchase ledger, process invoices, upload bank statements, and
update BACS receipts.
2. Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank
accounts and balance sheet items.
3. Expense Management: Process expenses, petty cash
transactions, and manage tracking of oil, gas, and mileage for each property.
4. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare
month-end financial reports, sustainability reports, and support VAT returns
and journal entries.
5. Payroll and Staff Management: Assist with
monthly payroll preparation, process gratuity payments, and maintain staff
accommodation records.
6. Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance
with internal controls, prepare documentation for audits, and maintain
organized financial records.
7. Support and Communication: Respond to hotel
staff queries and collaborate with various departments to address financial
concerns.
8. Additional Responsibilities: Perform ad-hoc
duties and assist with special projects to improve financial processes.
The Person
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and detail-oriented individual
with a passion for finance and hospitality, having worked as an Assistant Accountant
or similar finance role. While prior experience in the hospitality industry is
advantageous, we welcome candidates with a strong desire to learn and grow
within the hospitality industry.
Key attributes include:
1. Experience
in a similar role essential, HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or professional
certification desirable.
2. Proficiency
in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and financial management tools.
3. Strong
attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to analyse
financial information.
4. Excellent
communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with internal
stakeholders and hotel teams.
5. Proactive
approach to identifying and resolving discrepancies, with adaptability to
changing processes.
6. Commitment
to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality.
7. Adaptability
and flexibility to work remotely and travel to hotels in the North Highlands as
required.
8. A
positive attitude and a collaborative approach to teamwork, contributing to the
success of our finance department and hotel portfolio.
The Package
Salary £33,000 - 36,000 dependant on experience + company benefits inc:
