P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking an Electrical Control Panel Switchgear Engineer to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspect from:
1. Design assistance.
2. Manufacture.
3. Factory testing.
4. Installation.
5. Site commissioning of products.
6. Service and repair of manufacturers’ products.
Role Summary:
7. Main Purpose of the role is to manufacture, install, commission, modify, maintain and test electrical motor control centres (MCCs) and distribution switchboards in the workshops and on customers’ sites within the UK, offshore and overseas.
Main Responsibilities:
8. Work as part of a team and be able to take and give instructions.
9. Work to method statements and risk assessments specifically created for the task.
10. Be able to offload, move into position and install control panels on customer sites.
11. Be able to carry out commissioning activities on motor starter panels, including variable speed drives, intelligent motor starters, electronic protection relays such as Schneider Easergy, Micom etc.
12. Functional tests to schematic diagrams.
13. Fault finding.
14. Current injection.
15. Voltage application.
16. Insulation resistance and high voltage pressure testing.
17. Resistance measurement of joints (Ductoring).
18. Have excellent control panel wiring skills that involves both looming and wiring in trunking.
19. Have excellent fitting skills for marking off, cutting and drilling etc.
20. Be able to think logically and assist in the design and layout of compartments for ease of manufacture and
21. wiring.
22. Be able to travel worldwide at short notice.
23. Co-operate with the employer on all health and safety matters.
24. Use and maintenance any PPE provided for your safety and others.
25. Report back to your supervisor with status of the work and any health and safety concerns.
26. Complete timesheets, expense forms and visit reports in a timely manner.
27. Protect and maintain your local and global environment.
28. Any other task as deemed necessary by your supervisor/manager.
Person Specification:
29. Electrical qualification such as an HNC, HND, or NVQ in Electrotechnology, Mechatronics or equivalent.
30. Previous experience in primary and secondary injection of thermal and electronic protection relays.
31. Setting up and commissioning variable speed drives, electronic motor controllers such as Siemens Simocode etc
32. Maintain a valid driving licence.
33. Maintain a valid passport.
34. Pass an annual medical, OGUK.
35. Pass a four yearly offshore survival course (BOSIET or FOET).
36. Participate in training courses.
37. Read and participate in company announcements on electronic notice boards.
38. Be eligible to work in the UK.
39. Comply with the conditions and contract of employment.
Working Hours & Benefits:
40. Normal workshop hours are 08:30 to 16:45 Monday to Friday with the possibility of overtime when the workload permits.
41. Hours on site are specified by the client and could be up to 12 hours per day, especially offshore.
42. You will be required to work the hours necessary to complete the task in the designated timeframe.
43. Weekend working may be required, which will attract additional payments and time off in lieu.
44. Auto enrolment pension scheme, contributions matched up to 5%.
45. 25 days annual leave, with 3 of these taken over the Christmas / New Year holiday period when the workshops are closed.
46. Additional payments for weekend, overseas and offshore work.
47. Ability to earn additional days off, lieu days, which can be carried over year after year.
