The Trust is seeking a specialty grade psychiatrist for the Carshalton and Wallington Integrated Recovery Hub (C&W IRH).
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic specialty psychiatrist to join this newly transformed integrated mental health and wellbeing team.
There are a number of opportunities for the post holder to conduct research, audit, or quality improvement initiatives for which support can be provided. The post holder is expected to participate fully in leadership and quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of our patients .
Main duties of the job
The postholder will closely work with the Consultant psychiatrist in order to provide medical and clinical leadership to the Carshalton and Wallington IRH within Adult Mental Health Services for Sutton.
Whilst the Consultant will carry overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, initiation of medication, and the recovery focused care delivered by the Team, the Specialty Psychiatrist will be fully involved in delivery in these areas.

Job responsibilities
The Specialty doctor will make decisions day-to day around clinical care, will assess risk, initiate, and review medication and embrace the Recovery ethos. The Specialty doctor will accept referrals to the Team, take the initiative in reviewing care and initiate and plan discharge as appropriate. Whilst not acting as Responsible Clinician for patients on CTO, the Specialty doctor will be fully involved in the delivery of care to those patients and to support and advise the Consultant as to their clinical situation to inform the use of power of recall by the Consultant.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
1. Primary Medical degree.
2. Full GMC registration.
Desirable
3. Section 12 Approval
4. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
5. Qualification in a talking therapy such as CBT, DIT or MBT
6. Qualifications in change management and service development skills
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:
Essential
7. Completed at least four years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term trainee or have equivalent experience and competencies.
8. Extensive experience in the management of a broad range of relevant mental disorders in older adults
Desirable
9. Knowledge and experience of the CPA process, risk assessment and risk management
10. Experience of teaching medical and non-medical staff, including those who may not have a formal qualification
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Essential
11. Broad knowledge of the biological, psychological and social determinants of mental disorders in old age and evidence-based management interventions
12. A detailed knowledge of main treatment approaches for severe mental illness including psychopharmacological interventions
13. Ability to provide medical and mental health assessments, formulate diagnoses and initiate treatment plans Ability to treat service users with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach Ability to plan treatment programmes in conjunction with multi-disciplinary team
