You will be required to assist in the delivery and coordination of a programme of physical health activities for service users with a variety of mental health conditions. This includes group and 1:1 input, encompassing a variety of sports and gym sessions. These sessions will take place in our purpose-built gym and across the inpatient wards.
This position is a bank role, but we expect the applicant to be able to offer at least two days on a regular basis. We are open seven days per week and want our service to represent evenings and weekends, as well as Monday to Friday and/or Saturday and Sunday. The ideal candidate will work across inpatient wards with the possibility of some community sports groups.
There are good facilities including ward gyms and off-ward gym. Community groups such as tennis and good community outdoor areas are available. The role also includes accessing patients and making links with the wider inpatient team.
The ideal candidate will support adults with mental health conditions to access sports, health, and fitness-related activities in Hackney. You will support the Occupational Therapy sports service in its provision of assessment and interventions for service users with mental health conditions and complex health care needs.
Responsibilities include:
1. Contributing to the planning, provision, development, and evaluation of the service.
2. Supporting the Lead Therapist with the development of specialist physical activity research, evidence-based practice, and Clinical Governance projects that best support the development of the Service aims and objectives in the improvement of patient care and clinical practice.
The ideal candidate must have relevant up-to-date fitness qualifications, and certification must be provided at interview if shortlisted.
