ICT Support Apprentice Acorns Childrens Hospice Are you looking to build a meaningful career in IT while making a real difference to the lives of children and families? Acorns Childrens Hospice is offering a fantastic opportunity for an ICT Support Apprentice to join their friendly and supportive team. Based at their head office in Wythall, with travel to hospice sites in Selly Oak, Walsall, and Worcester, this is a hands-on role with excellent learning opportunities. Acorns provides specialist palliative care to babies, children, and young people across the West Midlands. As a valued member of their ICT team, youll be helping ensure vital systems run smoothly across the organisation, supporting the incredible work they do every day. This apprenticeship offers you the chance to gain a recognised Level 3 ICT qualification while developing practical skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. A Typical Day in the Job: Providing 1st line support to staff across multiple sites via phone, email, or in person. Troubleshooting and resolving issues with hardware (laptops, desktops, mobile devices, copiers). Installing and configuring software and hardware. Diagnosing and escalating network issues. Logging and updating tickets on the Service Desk system. Carrying out user administration tasks including account creation, updates, and password resets. Supporting Acorns retail shops with their back-office ICT needs. Maintaining system documentation and updating ICT asset inventory. Assisting with housekeeping tasks such as stock control and scheduled system maintenance. Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships. Desired Qualities, Skills, and Knowledge: A passion for IT and enthusiasm to develop a career in ICT. Experience using computers, printers, tablets, and mobile phones. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows (up to Windows 11). Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Organised, punctual, polite, and self-motivated. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A Grade 5/C in GCSE English and a Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths is required for this role. Willingness to travel across multiple Acorns locations. Salary, Hours & Benefits: £19,000 per annum. Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. 31 days annual leave (including bank holidays), rising to 35 after 3 years of service. 15-month fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent after completion of your Level 3 course.
