Rate: £55 p/h (outside IR35)
The Senior Electrical Engineer will join a multi-disciplinary team working on key energy projects aimed at supporting the UK's Net Zero initiatives.
This role involves providing electrical discipline technical input for projects and proposals, including the preparation, checking, and approval of engineering documentation. The engineer will ensure compliance with all national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards.
Responsibilities include preparing equipment and materials requisitions for various electrical systems, preparing installation scopes of work, and reviewing supplier quotations to prepare technical bid assessments. The role will also involve performing cable, lighting, and lightning calculations, managing electrical equipment ageing and obsolescence, and supporting site teams with operational issues. The engineer will work closely with the engineering team in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Skills:
Electrical engineering expertise
Experience with HV and LV switchboards
Knowledge of UPS systems and power factor correction
Competence in trace-heating and lighting systems
Ability to conduct cable, lighting, and lightning calculations
Understanding of electrical equipment obsolescence management
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Problem-solving and analytical abilities
Experience in a multi-disciplinary team
Familiarity with technical bid assessments
Certifications & Standards:
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
Familiarity with IEC standards
Knowledge of UK legislation and standards
Compliance with ATEX, PED, and EMC regulations
