About the Role
Working within a dedicated team of grid connection experts and engineers, this role will be responsible for delivering successful grid connection strategies for a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects across Great Britain. The successful candidate will play a key role in project teams from early-stage development through to construction and operation.
The role is best suited to candidates located near the company’s primary UK offices, where hybrid and office-based working options are available. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive professional eager to contribute to the decarbonisation agenda within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the delivery of grid connection solutions for utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects in Great Britain, with potential involvement in international projects.
* Liaise with key stakeholders, including Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission Operators (TOs), and the National Electricity System Operator (NESO), to optimise grid connection solutions and mitigate risks.
* Oversee the grid application and queue management process for assigned projects.
* Manage grid-related contracts, ensuring key milestones and obligations are identified and addressed by relevant project teams.
* Provide technical guidance during project development and construction, ensuring grid connection factors are appropriately considered.
* Support the optimisation of project connection design and costs, including feasibility assessments and delivery model evaluations.
* Ensure compliance with technical grid code requirements, collaborating with specialists as necessary.
* Analyse network constraints and curtailment risks to assess long-term export capabilities.
* Work alongside experienced grid specialists, with opportunities for professional development and career progression.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Strong commercial awareness and contract management skills.
* Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
* Project management experience within the energy sector.
* Familiarity with electrical power systems and grid connection processes, including:
* GB grid connection frameworks and regulations.
* Grid charging structures and transmission cancellation charges.
* Technical aspects of transmission and distribution networks.
* Experience working with regulated network operators or other utility businesses.
* Degree-level education in a relevant technical discipline.
