Would you like a change of scene or to try something different for a while, working as part of a friendly and supportive team? We're recruiting for maternity cover for a key role in our inpatient dysphagia service at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.
We're looking for an autonomous dysphagia practitioner who shares the team's passion for delivering high quality interventions and embraces our Trust values of kindness, courage and respect. You will be well-supported by our Acute Medicine Lead SLT in conjunction with the North East Lincolnshire SLT Team Lead and Clinical Expert SLTs. The team is supported by our Dysphagia Assistant who works within the inpatient service. We hold weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics and are developing our inpatient FEES service.
We offer regular supervision, joint working, training and CPD opportunities to further develop your clinical skills. The Trust offers a range of Quality Improvement training opportunities with built-in support to work on your chosen service improvement project. Alongside colleagues in the team, you will provide clinical leadership to more junior SLT's and support student placements.
Main duties of the job
The wider SLT service encompasses colleagues with similar roles in Scunthorpe, providing regular opportunities for joint working. Our inpatient dysphagia service plans to expand to include rostered Saturday and bank holiday working and this post would contribute to this quality improvement initiative.
The postholder is to both provide and support a high standard of care within Speech and Language Therapy, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To be responsible for providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and swallowing (dysphagia) dependent on specific role.
To manage a defined caseload of patients using advanced evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning and facilitation.

Person specification
Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
2. HCPC Registered
3. Registered member of RCSLT
4. Wide range of CPD activities, esp. related to specialist area
5. Postgraduate qualification or training in Dysphagia
Desirable criteria
6. Relevant Masters level studies
7. Clinical Supervisor training
Experience & Abilities
Essential criteria
8. Minimum two years post graduate experience with adult caseload
9. Experience as an autonomous dysphagia therapist
10. Able to manage own caseload/s
11. Experience of teaching other staff
12. Experience of working in the specialist area
13. Experience of working in acute/ community setting with a multi agency team
Desirable criteria
14. Experience of several specialist areas of work
15. Experience of managing staff and other resources
16. Experience of presentations to a range of audiences
