GPW Recruitment are partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood to recruit a Manufacturing Data Scientist to work in their existing site during a huge transformation. Ford is investing £230m into the Halewood site to produce electric power units and it will be the first site to manufacture EV components in Europe, in 2024 with a capacity of 420,000 units.
The role:
Creating Smart Vehicles for a Smart World through Connectivity is a key priority for Ford Motor Company. Leveraging Connectivity opportunities requires data to be identified, understood, extracted, processed, and presented in a way that generates insights for use by the wider team. This role will specifically support wrangling, transformation, and analysis of data, generating new insights for our manufacturing systems enabling operational spend reduction and system optimisation.
You will be part of the plant manufacturing engineering team and be responsible for conceptualising, developing and maintaining a range of manufacturing data science projects and products. You will manage projects and deliver them to optimal standards in line with cost and timing objectives. The role will involve working with a varied range of teams including engineers, management, IT, production, and maintenance personnel to deliver projects and services which support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment.
Applicants should be able to:
* Use data science background to identify new opportunities to boost plant efficiency
* Extract, transform, load, analyse and report complex manufacturing data from multiple data sources
* Develop and maintain a range of visualisation products to communicate insights including manufacturing data dashboards
* Act as plant point of contact with our central innovation network, global data analytics & insights team, as well as the various IT departments within Ford Motor Company
* Develop a digital/data science team within the plant
* Deploy data analytical training and skills development within other departments within the plant
Qualifications and Experience required by the Manufacturing Data Scientist:
* Degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, a Physical Science or a related quantitative field is required or equivalent experience relevant to the field in an engineering/automotive environment
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills and providing data support to manufacturing investigations
* Demonstrable competence in automating data pipelines
* Working knowledge of Big Data Analytics tools with experience of interfacing to Cloud-based databases and data visualisation tools
* Demonstrable skills in writing SQL to query databases and experience in Python programming language
* Understanding of capabilities of current and future data analytical technologies
* High degree of self-initiative, drive and flexibility
* Strong ability to lead, motivate and work in a team
* Resilience is essential. Candidate must be able to deal with difficult problems whilst maintaining a positive attitude

* Salary of £61,116.53 pa (inclusive of 35% holiday bonus for 33 days per year; 25 vacation & 8 bank holidays)
* Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7:00-15:30 and Friday 7:00-12:30
